Senior Advocate and distinguished tax and business lawyer Aseem Chawla has unveiled the third edition of Supreme Court on Company Law (Compendium of Cases) (1950-2025), a comprehensive three-volume reference work compiling landmark judgments delivered by the Supreme Court of India over a period of seventy-five years. The latest edition follows the second edition published in 2022 by Bloomsbury and Corporate Law Advisor.

The compendium presents judicial pronouncements arising under the Companies Act, 1913, the Companies Act, 1956, and the Companies Act, 2013 through a pedagogical reference spread across three volumes. Each judgment is accompanied by concise headnotes highlighting the ratio decidendi of the Supreme Court. Relevant paragraphs from the judgments have been specifically identified to facilitate ease of reference. In addition to a nominal index, the publication contains a comprehensive subject index and section index drafted in a lucid and structured manner, substantially enhancing its research and practical value.

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, in his foreword to the publication, described the work as an important and enduring contribution that systematically consolidates authoritative pronouncements under company law. He observed that the third edition provides readers with an opportunity to trace the development of legal principles, understand their doctrinal foundations, and appreciate their adaptation to contemporary realities.

Justice Bhuyan further stated that the third edition reflects sincere effort, meticulous planning, rigorous scholarship, and deep engagement with the subject. According to him, the arrangement of judgments covering the Companies Act, 1913, the Companies Act, 1956, and the Companies Act, 2013 in chronological sequence demonstrates a clear understanding of the requirements of legal professionals and academics who rely on such reference material.
